penang to bangkok in haiku

They tried to rob me,
Motorcyclists in Penang,
But I was too fat.

Over a weekend,
Thirty-six hours on slow trains,
Perhaps a bit much.

On a sleeper berth,
"Golem was once a hobbit!"
Cynthia exclaimed.

We were served two meals.
Coconut soup, saran-wrapped.
Then diarrhea.

Sometime before dawn,
on our tracks, a train derailed.
Where the hell were we?

Prachaup Khiri Khan.
Our train could not go forward.
So Bangkok, by bus.

Then we parted ways,
just as soon as we arrived,
vowing to email.
