One thing I find very distressing about American reporting on the Iran demonstrations is that the writers seem to be surprised that Iranians act like normal human beings. Iranian women play rugby and softball, even while wearing scarves! Iranian young people go the gym, and ride motorcycles, and get pissed, and believe in justice! Wha!? This is news only if you didn't believe that Iranians were cognizable as human in the first place. I guess you have to believe that if you think the best way to help Iranian democracy is to blow the demos to smithereens.
